The Palm Treo 500v.
I ordered this phone the day it came out. Here’s a photo of my 2 phones.
I owned this phone for about 1.5 weeks and i returned it.
The catalyst: The customer service guy who called to ask whether i was happy with the phone. While he was trying to convince me to keep it, whatever he said made me want to return the phone.
What i Liked:
- The price: Free with my contract.
- MSN: Built in
- Thought of trying out Windows Mobile
- The Keyboard
- Good, Loud Speakers
- Compact Form factor for the Treo Range
What i didn’t like:
- Missing Sync was giving me problems: Its a client for Macs to sync with Windows Mobile Devices. I only managed to sync it once or twice. Connectivity problems were an issue for me.
- Sub Standard Camera: Its a 2 Megapixel camera, i thought it would give me decent quality photos, but photos came out grainy.
- Speed: Slow Menu Response Time
- Battery: Due to 3G technology, the battery lasted a day or so, with very little activity on the phone.
- Complicated Menus on Windows Mobile
Overall Thoughts:
I would recommend it to a user with less demands, maybe just address book syncing, general phone and messaging usage.
I’m going to get the Sony Ericsson p1i, a smart phone(wifi, 3mp cam, keyboard etc) that should satisfy my needs. I’ll do a mini-review of that soon.
